Pete the Pea has left his pod in Hudson, NY to embark upon the journey of a lifetime! He will accompany me in my studies of religion in Berlin. Every new experience and landmark we come across will be documented here. Although Berlin is our main destination for the next 4 months, we hope to make it to many other places in Europe as well. We don't know what great things await us or what challenges lie ahead but we are very excited to share them all with you! Not to mention how incredibly grateful we are that you are checking in on Pete, one pea out of the many on earth.

Copenhagen Card

For those of you who follow my blog avidly, I apologize for not getting these up faster. These post have piled up too fast for me to keep up!

The second day of Copenhagen, Gina, Pete and I had a busy day planned with our Copenhagen Cards (See previous blogpost) We started off with the Aquarium.
The architectural design of the building was inspired by a whirlpool.
A transparent tunnel! We were pretty much in the tank! Hello stingray. It's funny, I don't know that i've ever seen their face before.
Of course we made sure to sit in on the otter talk. If you can make it out from the picture, you will see that the women is holding the fur of an otter. A little bit disturbing but highly educational.
The names of the two otters they have are Agnes and Mojoe. Agnes doing tricks for a treat. (No pun intended)

SO cute!
Cooling off in the ice bath while being fed...otters living the life.
We even got to swim with them! Totally kidding, obviously. They had this Photo Booth set up where you could take a picture and email it to people. I found it extra special because they didn't make you pay for it. What an awesome place that just wants people to have fun! The people in line behind me were getting a riot out of me and Pete.
The baltic.
The backside of the aquarium.
Gina gazing out at the open sea
Sunshine and happiness!
So many smiles
Feeling extra special I guess lol?
Pete climbing the stairs.
Cool lights in the aquarium
After the aquarium we were landing on going to the Jewish museum, but it ended up being closed. We were really sad, but got a lot of cool pictures along the way.
This was the entrance to a palace.
I love the shadow of the stoplight!
Easter decorations! How festive!
The museum that we couldn't see :(
An archway.
Clear, crisp skies.
A Suess like tree.
fun perspective

Can you find the bird?

The sky contrasting with the grass.                           The clouds were so pristine and sky SO blue.

Beautiful doorway
Model status
shadow fun
a statue of a horse lol. I don't know what it is, I didn't take the time to look, sorry.

After were got over our sadness of not being able to see the jewish museum, we went to the post and tele museum to learn all about how the history of the postal system. We had loads of fun along the way. Pete especially liked this museum. All of these were stamps where you could put your head in and take a picture. The sizes were for kids heads, clearly Pete didn't care.

The lighting makes this look awful, but it was a random painting of outer space in an organized splatter paint look.
The Tivoli queen.
We accidentally found ourselves at the children's exhibit because we don't speak Dutch, but I'm so glad we did. It was a huge play area with a slide and lithe houses. You had to take off your shoes. We looked like creeps because we weren't accompanying children but it was so fun to see. The picture I took is of a little girl in a postman's jacket delivering the mail to the houses. What an amazing educational tool with ann added adorable bonus.
Also in this museum were a bunch of old telephones and older devices of communication. Gina and i were struggling to figure out how this one telephone worked, so we gave up. Literally a few seconds later this older woman went up to the phone knowing exactly what she was doing and gave us this look like, "ha, stupid kids." If i didn't think it was hilarious, I might have been offended.

After the post and tele museum, we were hungry for lunch. We went to this fun street that one of our friends told us to visit. We ate the most healthy and delicious sandwiches. I can still taste it now. Everything was so fresh, even the bread.

Afterwards, we got donuts. Why not round up a healthy meal with a good donut?

We took our donuts to the nearest part to eat. The trees were beautifully arranged. Sky still clear as day.

The donut. Nutella. Yum.

A pack of speckled bushes

After a successful meal, we went back to the modern art museum that was closed the day before.
I have a poster from this exhibit. The artist changed all of the greenery to this pinky, magenta color. He was making a political statement. The color can either be seen as beautiful or eery.
A perfectly placed statue.
Suffocating.
Still beautiful day

This exhibit was from a woman who was good friends with the poet Rainer Marie Rilke. She died in her 30s and still managed to produce an amazing amount of astounding art. She focused mostly on female portraits.

She also did many self portraits.

I loved her art.
There were a few rooms of huge photographs. I could've stood in front of each photograph for a long, long time.
Like, why are there sea creatures inside of this grave? Is it near the ocean? is is photoshopped? why is everything so still?
An artist to sketched forest landscapes in pencil. !!!
The floor accented by a spotlight.
Now this art was the coolest I think i've ever seen. It was a room where the walls, ceiling and floor were mirrors. you could only walk on a little platform because the floor was also flooded with water. Hanging from the ceiling were lights that changed color every few seconds. It was like we were the only things that existed. The images were endless. While we were the only things that existed, there was an infinite amount of our reflections in every mirror...

As we made our way back, we decided that we should see the famous Little Mermaid statue. A picture perfect apartment along the way.
The Little Mermaid statue was way out of the way. It was right next to this man made moat which shaped the plot of land into a star. In the picture below we were standing across from one of the points of the star.
Approaching the statue, the PERFECT tree.
There she is. After the story came out, the owner of the big brewery in Copenhagen loved the story so much that he donated this statue. We didn't find it all that impressive. Just a place that you have to see.

I don't know why I took so many pictures.

The SKYYYY
We were pooped after all we had done, so we decided to go home for a little rest. We had plans to go to Tivoli Gardens later which is an amusement park. We went home, rested up and went on our way!
The most festive and welcoming entrance.

Our heads were on a constant swivel, there was too many things to look at
Tulips!
The lighting was bad because they had them lit up with red tinted lights.

Ticket for the ride!!!
Whoop there it is!
It was really windy and I'm pretty sure I got wind burn but it was very cool to see the whole park and a good chunk of the city from so far up!
Gina wasn't feeling it, so she stayed planted on the ground and had a snack.
The little characters are hard to see, but they are on a lot of postcards and things.
Pretty flowers.
We saw.

We bought.
We conquered.

This is real life y'all

For perspective
NOM NOM NOM

Destroyed.
A random tree
Pretty lights.

A little restaurant with amazing hot chocolate.        And a cool view.

Awaiting the fireworks...awkward camera angle.

The moon in full force

Perfect end to a perfect day. Couldn't leave without photographing the peacock lol.

Copenhagen day 2, success!
